The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap what’s happened at the blog, and talk about things coming up. Let’s go!
Weekly (Monthly, Many Months) Wrap Up
I had to go back and see when my last Sunday Post happened and . . . it was June 28th. I knew it had been a while, but dang, I didn’t realize it had been quite that long! I think I had thought about making a post for a while, but it never actually happened, mostly because I’ve actually been pretty busy. Here’s a bit of what’s been going on.
First off, in July we had our annual trip to the World Boardgaming Championships in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. This year was weird because it was the first year that neither of our kids could come with us. My daughter had just started a new job and couldn’t take the time off, and my stepson had recently moved to Colorado and also had a new job and other things going on. So it was just my husband and I going on what had always been a family trip. I’m not gonna lie – my mama bear heart broke just a little bit, but we still had fun. Got to meet up with old friends and play a lot of fun games. Plus, it’s nice to just escape into the beautiful Pennsylvania mountains.
Speaking of trips, we just got back from a long weekend in Las Vegas! My husband, who was born and raised in Nebraska, follows a lot of Nebraska sports. For the past few years, he has been following their women’s volleyball team, which is absolutely amazing. Since it’s really hard to get tickets to their events in Nebraska, a lot of Huskers travel with the team and see them in on the road. In this case, it was a four team invitational in Las Vegas, so we decided to have a fun adventure. We stayed at New York New York, ate wonderful food at Paris, went to the Mob Museum, and also saw a show called Absinthe. All of this in addition to the two volleyball games we went to, where we had floor seats right behind the player bench. An absolute whirlwind, but so much fun.
Lastly, back in July, I had made the decision to try and audition again for community theater. I had stopped six years ago due to covid, chronic pain and fatigue issues and was SUPER nervous to put myself back out there. Things have been a bit better as of late, and plus, the theater where I had spent a lot of time at in years past was bringing back a show they did back in 2017 – Ragtime. I was in that original production and, as such, I was pretty much guaranteed a spot in the ensemble. I also got into another show called Baker Street, which is a Sherlock Holmes musical? Never heard of it, but I’m excited to be a part of it. So for the past month and a half, I’ve been in rehearsals for Ragtime and we open this Friday. It’s been challenging – I can definitely feel how my body has changed since the last time I did this – but it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience and I can’t wait to perform this beautiful show.
So yeah, not only did I not post, it’s been busy! I’m sure I’m missing a few things, but this is the main bits.
