August came and went so quickly! It feels like I blinked once and it was over. A busy month for sure. Let’s see how my reading went . . .
August Reads
- When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi
- How to Be Okay When Nothing is Okay by Jenny Lawson
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
Only three books again this month – not counting The Unmagical Life of Briar Jones since I haven’t finished it yet – but that’s still okay. Still on track with most of my goals and working towards other reading challenges. Speaking of . . .
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal was to read 52 books this year. Currently sitting at 34 books, which according to GoodReads is right on track! Huzzah!
GoodReads Choice Awards Challenge: My goal was to read all of the winners of the GoodReads Choice Awards from last year. Unfortunately I did not make any progress on this one in August, so I’m still sitting at 7 out of 13. I think that’s still okay, but I will need to step up on this one if I want to finish it out.
Beat the Backlist: Hey, I made progress on this one! I’m definitely counting Parable of the Sower since I’ve owned a copy of that book for a while now and it’s been on my radar for so much longer. I counted this one towards the “fave author rec: a book recommended by one of your favorite authors” since soooooo many authors I love also love this book.
Blog Updates
I didn’t blog a whole lot in August, since as I said, I was pretty busy last month, but I did blog some. Here’s the breakdown:
- Month in Review: 1
- Top Ten Tuesday: 1
- WWW Wednesday: 2
- Book Blogger Hop: 1
- Reviews: 2
Not much, but more than I did in July. Plus, I got two reviews in! I’ll take that!
Overall, August was pretty hectic. Had a lot of ups and downs and lots of things going on, which didn’t leave a ton of time for reading or blogging, but I’m still satisfied with what I was able to do.
