MONTH IN REVIEW: May 2026

May was a slightly stressful month, but you know what? We got through it! Let’s see how things went reading-wise.

May Reads

  • Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab (535 pages)
  • Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (665 pages)
  • Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (886 pages)

Only three books, but I’m including page counts on here because what I lacked in numbers, I made up in volume. These were some chonky ones! My only regret is that I missed several days reading, which meant I couldn’t finish Onyx Storm by the end of the month (finished it on the 1st – oh well).

Challenge Updates

GoodReads Challenge: My goal was to read 52 books this year. As of the end of May, I have read 21 books, which according to GoodReads is right on track! Huzzah!

GoodReads Choice Awards Challenge: My goal was to read all of the winners of the GoodReads Choice Awards from last year. I added to this with Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, which won the award for Best Fantasy, bringing my total books read to 5 of 13. Again, wish I could have squeezed Onyx Storm in there, but I guess it will go with June’s totals.

Beat the Backlist: No new squares to add to my board, as this month I was focusing on the GoodReads winners instead (including the rereads of the Empyrean). I’m still not sure about this challenge as a whole yet. It may come off my challenge page entirely, but I’m keeping it for now just in case.

Blog Updates

I’ll admit, this one was terrible this month. I posted a grand total of 4 times. I have literally posted as much in June so far as I did for the entire month of May. Like I said, it was a bit of a rough month. Here’s what I did post.

  • Month in Review: 1
  • Top Ten Tuesday: 1
  • WWW Wednesday: 2

Shop Updates

As I mentioned before, Tabby Cat Textiles is sort of on hold right now. I updated the widget on the front page of my blog to show all the items currently available. There are 11 items up as of right now. I have several more items that are ready to go, I just need to get photographs done first. I also have several new ideas for things to put in the store that I need to work out details for, so stay tuned for that!

Overall, I’m kind of glad that May is over. I’m feeling more optimistic for June for some reason, so bring it on!
