Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a fall themed freebie. For me, fall almost always means spooky season, but since there will also be a Halloween freebie in October, I figured I should probably go another direction with this. My next thought was that fall is usually when the new school year starts, and I particularly enjoy books that are set in boarding schools, so my topic this week will be:
Ten Favorite Books Set in a Boarding School
Does this count as a fall theme? No idea, but I’m going with it.
- Looking for Alaska by John Green
- A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
- Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
- Fallen by Lauren Kate
- Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
- The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
- Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep
- Truly, Devious by Maureen Johnson
- Wilder Girls by Rory Power
Please leave your top tens in comments!

I love boarding school books too!! Great topic!
I don’t know why, but I’ve always been fascinated by them!

Thanks! It was fun!
Ahh, so many throwback books here. A Great and Terrible Beauty and Fall are both ones I read as a teen! Wow! I feel old. Looking For Alaska and Truly Devious are both favorite too.

So many good YA books out there, most of which I discovered when I was long past my “YA” days. 🙂
Great spin on the theme! A book I remember reading set at a boarding school is In the Hall with the Knife by Diana Peterfreund. It’s the first book in a series called Clue Mystery.

I’ve never heard of that one. I’ll have to check it out!
Boarding schools are so interesting.
I’ve always thought that. I know when I was a kid, I wished I could go to one. They just always seemed like such an adventure!
that’s an interesting concept for a list. does hogwarts count as a boarding school? i think HP is the only book i read where there is one.

That would definitely count, for sure!
I adored Enid Blyton’s Mallory Towers when I was growing up, I wanted to go to Boarding school just based on those books.
