MONTH IN REVIEW: February 2023

Month in Review Banner

Another month has come and gone, which means that it’s time for another Month in Review post. I am happy to say that February has progressed quite nicely, both reading-wise and for the blog in general. Let’s take a look!

February Reads

  1. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
  2. One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake
  3. Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake
  4. Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake
  5. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
  6. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood
  7. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
  8. Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare

Eight books in total, which isn’t too bad, especially not for the short month of the year! I seem to be reading a lot of series lately and nothing particularly diverse, but I’m hoping to change things up a bit next month.

Reading Stats

February 2023 Page Graph

I tracked pages instead of chapters this time since several of my books this month didn’t have regular numbered chapters. I think I prefer doing it this way, actually. It’s much easier. You can see that I’ve kept to reading one book at a time and it has worked out pretty well. I’m able to keep up with it better anyway. I was also really happy that there were only two days that I didn’t read, and one of those days was the last day of the month because I had finished Chain of Iron way earlier than I expected to. Overall, I am very pleased.

Challenge Updates

GoodReads Challenge: My goal for this year is to read 100 books. I currently have 17 books read for the year, which according to GoodReads is one book ahead of schedule!

Complete the Series: My goal was to finish six series on my list (you can see the list here). In February, I finished another series (well, duology, but I’m still counting it) with The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. That brings my total up to two series finished from my list. I also finished a new series that I began this year in Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake.

Beat the Backlist: My goal was to read 25 books off of my owned TBR lists (i.e.. books that I own but haven’t read yet – there’s a lot). I didn’t add much to this challenge in February, only reading one book: Three Dark Crowns. I will be focusing more on this one next month.

A-to-Z Challenge: In February, I only filled in two additional letters on my A-to-Z Challenge. Still on track to do well with this one, especially since I got so many in January.

  • F: Five Dark Fates
  • O: One Dark Throne

Blog Updates

For the month of February, I had twelve posts, which isn’t bad, but still isn’t where I would like to be. This is, and will always be, a slightly haphazard work in progress. It’s more fun that way anyways. Here is what I posted:

  • Teaser/Top Ten Tuesday Combo Posts: 3
  • Teaser Tuesday Only Posts: 1
  • WWW Wednesday Posts: 4
  • Challenge/Updates: 1
  • Reviews: 3

As always, I’m still trying to get better about reviews. Three in one month is still pretty good for me!

Overall, February was a decent month. I’m still doing well on my goals and staying fairly active on the blog. Here’s to carrying that energy into March!
