I am attempting, once again, to work on the Beat the Backlist Challenge! This challenge is hosted by Austine Decker and the goal is to try and whittle down your TBR. Here’s my problem: I have 154 books that I OWN that I haven’t read. A lot of these were free e-books, but still. It’s a lot. It’s ridiculous. I’m not going to list all of the books here, but if you’re curious, you can check out my two GoodReads lists (one for physical books, (40) one for e-books, (115)) where I’ve separated them out.

My goal is to read 25 books off of my TBRs (that’s 25 total, not 25 per list). I know there will be other books added (I got some for Christmas that still aren’t on there) and some other new books, that will come my way, so for the sake of this challenge, anything that I received prior to 2023 will be the only ones that count towards this. Anything new purchased or borrowed this year will not count.

Books read:

  1. The People of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau
  2. The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
  3. Wilder Girls by Rory Power
  4. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
  5. The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel
  6. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
  7. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
  8. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
  9. Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune by Rosalind Lim
  10. Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
  11. The Girl In Between by Laekan Zea Kemp
  12. Banded by Logan Byrne
  13. Incubation by Laura DiSilverio
