It’s so hard to believe that January is already over! Didn’t 2023 just start? Weren’t the holidays just a few days ago?
January was a very productive month, both reading-wise and here at the blog. Let’s see what all went down.
Books Read:
- Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan
- The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
- The People of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau
- The Prophet of Yonwood by Jeanne DuPrau
- The Diamond of Darkhold by Jeanne DuPrau
- Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
- The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
- Wilder Girls by Rory Power
- The Dust of 100 Dogs by A.S. King
Reading Stats
You can see where I decided to stop reading multiple books at a time and just focus on one, except for my book club read. I think I was just trying to do too much and my brain couldn’t hold that many stories together. Blaming it on getting old lol.
I’m also happy with the fact that there were only two days where I didn’t read last month, one because I was sick and one because I was traveling.
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal for this year is to read 100 books. I currently have 9 books read for the year, which according to GoodReads is one book ahead of schedule!
Complete the Series: My goal was to finish six series on my list (you can see the list here). In January, I finished the Book of Ember series by Jeanne DuPrau. So that’s one!
Beat the Backlist: My goal was to read 25 books off of my owned TBR lists (i.e.. books that I own but haven’t read yet – there’s a lot). In January, I read three (The People of Sparks, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, and Wilder Girls).
A-to-Z Challenge: In January, I filled in six letters in the A-to-Z Challenge. There were several duplicates, so I’m only listing the first book I read for that letter (otherwise it will be chaos).
- C: The City of Ember
- D: The Diamond of Darkhold
- H: Heart of the Sun Warrior
- P: The People of Sparks
- T: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
- W: Wilder Girls
Blog Updates
I’ve been trying to focus more on getting reviews out and posting more regularly (except for last week, which was a semi-planned break). Here’s the breakdown.
- Teaser/Top Ten Tuesday Combo Posts: 3
- Teaser Tuesday Only Posts: 1
- WWW Wednesday Posts: 3
- Challenge/Updates: 2
- Reviews: 4
That’s thirteen posts in all, including four reviews! For me, that’s huge!
Overall, I have had a nice January for reading and blogging. Here’s to hoping I can carry that energy into February!
