Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:
If you could retell a Halloween story or trope from a fresh angle, what would you choose and why?
This is a really tough question! There are a lot to chose from, but some (like vampires, for instance) have been done to death (pun intended). So maybe something like this. I talked about how many books there are about witches in my last Top Ten Tuesday, right? And in the “mythology,” witches have familiars, particularly black cats. Let’s tell the story from the cat’s point of view. Particularly, let’s have a group of witches’ cats who meet up regularly and discuss their owners’ failings – things like how the potions they brew stink up the house, or how they needed mice for a spell once and now mice avoid their place. At the end of the story, something goes horribly wrong, or a big bad guy shows up, and it’s the cats who end up saving the day. Sounds like it could potentially be a fun middle grade book, or even a series.
Be sure to check out the other answers of this week’s Book Blogger Hop and let me know what fresh new Halloween story you’d like to tell!
