Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:
How do you decide which books to highlight on your blog?
I think it’s pretty obvious is you follow me for any length of time that everything I do is pretty random reading-wise. Of course, I set some pretty specific reading goals and challenges, but they always get derailed by something shiny. I’ve also gotten ARCs from NetGalley to review and years ago I used to take part in blog tours for new books coming out. Those were fun. I really need to try and do one again.
I try (emphasis on “try”) to write reviews of everything I read. I’m sure there are lots of reviews that I’ve missed. Maybe one day I’ll go back through my GoodReads and make a list of what hasn’t been reviewed. There’s probably a lot.
Be sure to check out the other answers of this week’s Book Blogger Hop and let me know how you decide what to highlight on your blog!

Random is good. I love a Blog Tour and Netgalley. I need to maybe chill a bit so that I can actually read my own books 🤣
I generally review all my books and then highlight ones according to prompts that there answer 🤣
Have a great weekend!

I have so many books that I own that I haven’t read yet, it’s a bit embarrassing. Most of them are eBooks that I got for free years ago, but they’re still sitting there, mocking me. I think that’s part of why I stopped with Blog Tours and NetGalley for a bit (but then I went and bought more books – kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it – oops).
Same. Ergh I have no idea how many books I have on my kindle 🤦🏻 I keep saying to myself that I will cut down and I have got better, it’s just that publishers send books via Netgalley 😂 I don’t have time for them all, but I do read some 😂
I finally went through and made a dedicated GoodReads shelf for all my Kindle books that I haven’t read yet. There are over 100 of them. It’s a bit ridiculous at this point. The other problem is that most of them are the first books in series, so that means that if it’s good, there are a bunch of other books in the series I will have to track down and read. So those 100 or so Kindle books? Just the tip of the iceberg.
Oooo I am a bit scared to do that. I have so many Kindle freebies 😂
Haha I completely understand!
I can definitely relate to getting distracted by the next shiny book! 😊 Blog tours were a lot of fun, and it would be nice to see more of them again. I admire anyone who manages to review nearly everything they read—I know I’d probably discover quite a few missing reviews if I looked back, too. Stop by to see my response. Happy Reading! 📚
It helps that I don’t read nearly as much as I used to. I also typically need to write a review for a book I’ve read fairly soon after finishing it. Whether it’s a combination of getting older or just being stressed out by the world in general, it’s really hard for me to remember the details of books I read for any length of time. If my reviews get stacked up and it’s been too long after reading a book, I will most likely not write a review because I don’t feel like I can do it justice. I may go through my GoodReads shelf of books I’ve read and see which reviews I’m missing and, if I feel like it, do a re-read and review it then. Who knows. There’s still way too many shiny books out there!
