Road Trip to the Book Warehouse!

Hey everyone! Working on getting back into my blog, and what better way than to tell you all about my adventure this weekend!

There is a book store down in Easley, South Carolina called the Book Warehouse Outlet. I had never heard of it before, but my friend Jess (who you might remember from back when we had a podcast together) had always wanted to go. They are only open one weekend per month, so it’s a pretty big deal. Since I’m in North Carolina and Jess is in Alabama, we thought it would be fun to meet up in SC (along with another friend of ours, Holly) and see what all the fuss was about.

Y’all . . . Y’ALL . . .

When I say that I was blown away, that is not an exaggeration. I was stunned. First, this place is HUGE. There are rows and rows, stacks and stacks, shelves and shelves, pallets and pallets, filled to the brim with books. They all new books, but all of them are 70% OFF RETAIL PRICE! I think it’s an overstock/outlet situation. The line to get in is pretty long. We got there about 20 minutes after they had opened at 8 AM, so the first crowd of people were already in and starting to trickle out, which worked out well because we were only a few people back in line to go in.

I had to take some pictures and some quick videos just to believe that this place was real.

We were in there for over two hours. My only complaint was that it was a bit warm in there, as this is a literal warehouse and, as such, doesn’t have air conditioning. They do have big fans though, so the air keeps moving and it doesn’t get unbearable. But you will sweat. Bring water. Also, wear comfortable shoes. It was a LOT of walking. Every time we thought the line of people would loop back around, it just kept going and going.

Now, on to the fun part – what did I get? Of course, I’m going to tell you, because I definitely splurged on this. I got . . . eleven books.

  • The Belladonna trilogy box set by Adalyn Grace
  • The Shepherd King duology box set by Rachel Gillig
  • The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. Maclean
  • The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah
  • The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton
  • The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston LeRoux
  • Curious Toys by Elizabeth Hand
  • The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

A lot of these are new to me authors that have been on my radar, but there are a few that were complete surprises. And while I have a copy of The Phantom of the Opera, this one is hardcover and **shiny**. Plus, all three of us bought the Belladonna trilogy and we’re hoping to do a buddy read. That should be fun!

I also got two journals and a tarot deck. The journals are so pretty and the tarot deck is pretty cool – you get to color in the cards! It’s part tarot, part coloring book! How nifty is that!

Finally, I got the cute tote bag that I used for my banner on this post. I saw them as soon as we walked in a knew I needed to get one. Naturally, I got the one with a cat on it.

So to recap, I bought eleven books, two journals, a tarot deck and a tote bag. How much do you think I spent? I got all of this for . . . $87.30. Not bad, huh! That’s a lot of stuff! There was so much more I could have bought, but I was trying to stay under $100. That and my bookcase situation at home is a bit on the tight side.

If you are ever in this part of the world, please check this place out. Like I said, they are only open one weekend per month, usually the last one. People come from all over to visit – we saw so many different state license plates in the parking lot! We will definitely be going back as soon as we recover physically and financially.
