Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer.
Our weapons have been returned to us, and while it’s made to look like a show of trust, I know it’s not. We are heavily outmanned here in the palace. We will be watched wherever we go.
I’m over halfway through this book and it’s so not what I expected. Definitely enjoying it and absolutely want to see where this is going.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:
Ten Things Characters Have Said
So many things come to mind, it’s almost difficult to chose. Here are a few that I enjoy.
- “. . . to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed.” – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
- “There’s more to life than staying safe.” – Caraval by Stephanie Garber
- ‘“Nothing ever happens like you imagine it will,” she says.
“But then again, if you don’t imagine, nothing ever happens at all.”‘ – Paper Towns by John Green - “And if we get caught, I will claim I made you go. At gunpoint. I am American. People will assume I’m armed.” – The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
- “People see what they wish to see. And in most cases, what they are told that they see.” – The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern
- “So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I’m still trying to figure out how that could be.” – The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
- “I am a collection of oddities, a circus of neurons and electrons: my heart is the ringmaster, my soul is the trapeze artist, and the world is my audience. It sounds strange because it is, and it is, because I am strange.” – Mosquitoland by David Arnold
- “That’s the problem with letting the light in—after it’s been taken away from you, it feels even darker than it was before.” – The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
- “Don’t forget who is a friend and who is a foe. And don’t forget, sometimes a person can be both.” – The Rules for Disappearing by Ashley Elston
- “Ah coffee. The sweet balm by which we shall accomplish today’s tasks.” – Ironside by Holly Black

Coffee sounds good right about now.
It really does.
That quote about being an American reminds me of a meme on facebook that says “How Europeans Imagine Americans Breakfast”, and it has a plate of bacon, with a handgun to the right of the place setting.
As an American . . . it’s not that far off, honestly. Or at least that’s what it feels like sometimes.
Yes, relationships can be tricky like #9 for sure.

I really liked that one.
The line form The Night Circus is so true, especially in recent times.

When I was looking up good quotes, that one jumped out at me immediately.
Poor Jace learning something so horrible when he was so young…
I know 😦
