Teasers & Top Tens – February 20, 2024

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from Beauty by Robin McKinley.

Ger had made us all promise – although I was the only one who had any inclination that needed to be curtailed – never to walk in the woods behind our house without either him or Father for company; the latter reference was courtesy only, because Father was no woodsman. I assumed that Ger meant deep forest, and one afternoon wandered into the first fringe of the big trees with horse and cart, picking up deadwood to be cut up for the house fires; the light scrub that had grown up around the meadow the house sat in had been cut down and burned during our first few weeks here.

I’ve been sick for several weeks now, but finally getting back to blogging again! Yay!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:

Ten (or Five) Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had

This is a fun one. We can only dream, can’t we?

  1. Unlimited Book Budget. Is this a superpower? Probably not, but it sure would be helpful!
  2. Super Reading Speed. My reading speed is pretty good, but I could read so many more books if I could read a bit faster!
  3. Time Stopping Abilities. While faster reading speed would be good, it would also be nice to pause time for a bit so that I could have more time to actually read. Sometimes the day is just not long enough!
  4. A Bookshelf of Holding. Anyone who has played D&D knows what a Bag of Holding is: a magical bag that is a lot bigger on the inside that holds a ton of stuff. I want that, but in bookshelf form. It would help my current storage needs, that’s for sure.
  5. Teleportation. This would be good for other reasons, too, but I can use it for bookish purposes as well. There are so many bookish events that I would love to attend, but travel is expensive and takes too much time.

I don’t know what’s going on with my images, but I don’t think they’re showing up right now? Not sure what’s going on with that, but hopefully WordPress will fix it.

Please leave your teasers and top tens in comments!

  4. Super Reading Speed would be the most helpful superpower. Then I could actually get through my TBR.

Great list of superpowers. I think we all want a shelf that can fit all the books!

  6. I would to teleport anywhere I want too.
