Another month (and another year, yikes!) comes to a close. Since I know I won’t be reading anything else today – waiting to start my January TBR – I figured it was a good time to get this month in review out of the way.
December was MUCH better than October and November was. I got back into a groove with reading that I really hope stays. I read some very good books, finished two series off my list, and joined a new book club. Fun stuff!
Books Read:
- Darkness Raging by Yasmine Galenorn
- An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
- Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
- Moon Shimmers by Yasmine Galenorn
- Harvest Song by Yasmine Galenorn

- Blood Bonds by Yasmine Galenorn

I only had three days this month that I didn’t get any reading done. I think that is the one thing that is helping me get out of reading slumps, especially since I started using these trackers. As long as I can read at least a little bit each day, I can stay on track, or at least FEEL like I’m staying on track. I am hoping to keep up that energy going into January and feel really positive that I will. 2022 has been a year full of ups and downs for me and my family.
I know that the changing of the year doesn’t magically mean that anything else will change. We make goals and plans, but doing it January 1st is sort of arbitrary. It doesn’t mean anything different than if you make goals and plans starting February 1st or August 1st, but because it’s *tradition* it feels different anyway. That’s why I’m trying to treat January as just another month and not the start of a whole new year. Does that make sense?
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Reading Challenge: My goal for 2022 was to read 60 books, and, well . . .
65 books! Given what a crazy year it’s been, I am so proud of being able to do this!
Complete the Series Challenge: I have 44 series on my list that need to be completed (you can see the complete list here). My goal was to complete six of them this year and to finish any new series that I started. Since I was able to finish the Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon series by Yasmine Galenorn this month as well as finish the Carls duology by Hank Green, I have officially finished six series this year! I am so excited about this since I think it might be the first time since setting a “Complete the Series” goal that I actually completed it. It feels so good to actually make progress!
I will be doing an official challenge update and year in review post tomorrow, so more details then.
Blog Updates
I am so hot and cold with the blog these days. Only a handful of posts in October, zero posts in November, but December was a bit better. Here’s what was posted:
- Weekly Wrap Up – 2
- Month in Review – 2 (including this one lol)
- Teaser Tuesday – 2
- Tuesday Combo Post (Teaser and Top Ten) – 2
- WWW Wednesday – 4
- Book Reviews – 1
That’s 13 posts total, which isn’t too bad. One of my goals for next year is to try and do better with my book reviews. That’s what this blog is (technically) supposed to be about, after all. I am glad that I at least got Tuesday and Wednesday posts up each week.
Overall, I feel pretty good about December. I had a tough month – the holidays were super busy and my holiday/seasonal depression was pretty high – but I made it through. That’s the important part.
