Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from Pachinko by Lee Min-Jin.
“You think I like it here? No, I don’t like it here. But here, I know what to expect. You don’t want to be poor. Changho-ya, you’ve worked for me, you’ve had enough food and money, so you’ve started to think about ideas — that’s normal. Patriotism is just an idea, so is capitalism or communism. But ideas can make men forget their own interests. And the guys in charge will exploit men who believe in ideas too much . . .”
This book has been such a wonderful surprise. I am enjoying it so much!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic:
Ten Typographic Book Covers
So what this topic means is book covers that are primarily just text. Not a lot of pictures, just something very typographically pleasing. I love how some of these are so simplistic and others are very detailed while still mostly just using words.
1). Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
2). The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
3). The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
4). Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
5). White Cat by Holly Black
6). Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
7). I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
8). A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
9). Caraval by Stephanie Garber
10). An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

Nice list and picks of cool typographic covers. So many interesting books on your list and I couldn’t agree more with your picks of Caraval, A Curse So Dark and Lonely, The Faults in Our Stars, and Ready Player One. Here is my TTT: https://herseriallife.com/top-10-books-with-typographic-covers/
Have a great week 😊
This was a fun topic. So many good covers to chose from!
Of course White Cat is going to draw my attention immediately! Great selection of books today.
Happy TTT!
Elza Reads
I really love that series. There is an edition where all the covers have this colorful, swirly text on them and they are so pretty.
I love the font on Beautiful Creatures. Gorgeous.

The whole series is like that and so pretty.
I loved the theme this week and your covers are EXCELLENT examples of the power of type. I like the swirls in Caraval; the way Ready Player One dominates the cover, and White Cat’s dripping word. Fun!

I loved the topic this week. I think cover art sometimes really gets overlooked so it’s always fun to highlight some awesome ones.
A Curse So Dark and Lonely is such a great example–the font alone makes me question why I haven’t read it yet! Great list.

It’s really good. You should definitely check it out!
I’ll pop it onto my radar list to do just that! ☺️
A CURSE SO DARK AND LONELY is perfect for this list!
It’s a beautiful cover. And the story is pretty good too.
I had Caraval on my list this week too, but the UK cover rather than the US one since that’s the copy I have.

Oh, I hadn’t seen the UK cover before. That one is really pretty too!
Yeah, Stephanie Garber always seems to get really great covers, her publisher’s cover designers knock it out of the park every single time!
