Teasers & Top Tens – May 11, 2021

tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard, book #2 in the Red Queen series.

I flinch. The rag she gives me is clean, but it still smells like blood. I shouldn’t care. I already have blood all over my clothes.

I just started this today, and these are the very first sentences. Aveyard isn’t pulling any punches, is she!

TTT-NEW

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Books With Nature on the Cover

According to the prompt, this could be anything nature related: flowers, trees, landscapes, animals, etc. I really like doing these lists of cover art because they are usually pretty simple to throw together. That said, I also enjoy trying to make things more complicated. So here’s what I’m doing this week. I started keeping up my reading challenge lists on GoodReads back in 2012. If you count this year so far, that would be ten years worth of reading lists. So below are my favorite book covers featuring nature, one from each year of my GoodReads reading lists.

From 2012: The Magicians by Lev Grossman
