Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
The talk did not die down in nine or even ninety-nine days. The second disappearance of Mr. Bilbo Baggins was discussed in Hobbiton, and indeed all over the Shire, for a year and a day, and was remembered much longer than that.
This is the beginning of chapter 2. I have a feeling this book is going to be slow going for me, mostly because it is very hard to read Tolkien fast.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic:
Top Ten Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers
The inspiration for this topic is because those are the colors for Mardi Gras, which is today! If you celebrate, hope you have a wonderful day today!
This was a fun list to put together. I chose books that I have given five star reviews. The link will take you to my review if you are interested. So here we go. In no particular order:
1). The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
2). Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #7)
3). Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh (*note: I don’t think I’ve actually reviewed this one on the blog, but it’s amazing. I will have to review it soon.)
4). Stain by A.G. Howard (Probably one of my all-time favorite book covers)
5). The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu
6). Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3 – Oddly enough, I don’t have a review for this one either, although I did review book #1 and book #2. This one is also very good.)
7). Jane Anonymous by Laurie Faria Stolarz
8). The How & the Why by Cynthia Hand
9). Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins (Hex Hall #3)
10). The Radium Girls by Kate Moore
Please leave your teasers or top tens in comments!

Good teaser and nice list! Hyperbole and a Half is one of my favorites. My teaser this week comes from Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire https://razzberrycoloredglasses.blogspot.com/2021/02/teaser-tuesday-every-heart-doorway-by.html
I absolutely love Allie Brosh. Her work is so funny, but she also has the absolute best description of living with depression that I’ve ever seen.
Great teaser, and I like the look of The Truth About Alice.
Here is my teaser: “FORGIVE ME”
It was really good, but also heartbreaking.
The Radium Girls was such a good read.
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-books-about-mardi-gras/
It was one of those books that really surprised me. I read it for a book club read and it’s something I never would have picked up on my own – I don’t read much non-fiction. It was so good! And so sad – those poor women!
I also picked The Radium Girls! I found that I don’t have as many purple/gold/green books as I thought.

Radium Girls was actually one of the first books I thought of for this – I remembered that vivid green color! I actually had a lot more yellow books than I expected, which was fun to see.
Don’t think I have top ten, but can give you some of my favorite books in Mardis Graais covers:
1. Same kind of Different as Me
2. Some of my Avalon books
3. Soms Land of stories books
That would be more than 3 due to some being in a series
Some series do that, where their cover design stays in the same color palette, and some mix it up a bit. I love seeing how they use the artwork to represent the story (and sometimes not – I’ve seen some random ones!)
Kingdom of Ash was on my list this week too!

All of those covers were great.
🙂
awesome, I love Tolkien!
here is my Teaser, featuring a cold Tuesday!: https://francebooktours.com/2021/02/16/lorigine-teaser-tuesday/
My top ten is here: https://wordsandpeace.com/2021/02/16/top-ten-books-with-purple-yellow-or-green-covers/
I need to read The Radium Girls
Tolkien is a classic, that’s for sure. I haven’t read The Lord of the Rings in a while, so this is a very welcome re-read.
And you should definitely read The Radium Girls – it’s excellent!
Such a great list! I remember being so satisfied with the ending of Kingdom of Ash. Oh, I read the Truth About Alice and it was a gripping read.
My Top Ten
The whole Throne of Glass series was great. So fun.
These are some lovely, colorful covers! I haven’t read any of them, unfortunately.
Happy TTT!
