Teasers & Top Tens – February 16, 2021

tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

The talk did not die down in nine or even ninety-nine days. The second disappearance of Mr. Bilbo Baggins was discussed in Hobbiton, and indeed all over the Shire, for a year and a day, and was remembered much longer than that.

This is the beginning of chapter 2. I have a feeling this book is going to be slow going for me, mostly because it is very hard to read Tolkien fast.

TTT-NEW

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic:

Top Ten Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers

The inspiration for this topic is because those are the colors for Mardi Gras, which is today! If you celebrate, hope you have a wonderful day today!

This was a fun list to put together. I chose books that I have given five star reviews. The link will take you to my review if you are interested. So here we go. In no particular order:

  1. Good teaser and nice list! Hyperbole and a Half is one of my favorites. My teaser this week comes from Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire https://razzberrycoloredglasses.blogspot.com/2021/02/teaser-tuesday-every-heart-doorway-by.html

  2. Great teaser, and I like the look of The Truth About Alice.

Here is my teaser: “FORGIVE ME”

  3. I also picked The Radium Girls! I found that I don’t have as many purple/gold/green books as I thought.

  4. Don’t think I have top ten, but can give you some of my favorite books in Mardis Graais covers:

    1. Same kind of Different as Me
    2. Some of my Avalon books
    3. Soms Land of stories books

That would be more than 3 due to some being in a series

  5. Such a great list! I remember being so satisfied with the ending of Kingdom of Ash. Oh, I read the Truth About Alice and it was a gripping read.

    My Top Ten

  6. These are some lovely, colorful covers! I haven’t read any of them, unfortunately.

    Happy TTT!
