Hello lovelies! It’s been a while, hasn’t it! Sorry for disappearing for a few weeks. It’s been a bit of a rough ride for me lately and, unfortunately, when that happens, it’s always reading and blogging that take the hit. It’s much easier to watch something mindless on YouTube instead of decypher words on a page or type words on a post.
Just a little bit about what’s going on. Don’t worry, none of it is that bad, or really bad at all. Maybe a little stressful, but that’s life, isn’t it? You remember that new job that I started back in January? I’ve loved it so far and especially loved the people I work with. Everyone is super nice and I was very happy to be working there. Last month, the business was sold, as the owner of the place was retiring. It’s a small business, run by a husband and wife. The wife had retired a few years ago and now her husband was joining her.
I’m very happy for them, and they definitely deserve this. They have worked very hard and built a successful business that has a wonderful community presence. But I also just really enjoyed working for bosses that were genuinely nice and good people. Luckily, the new owners also seem very nice and are eager to learn about how the business operates (they’ve never worked in this industry before). They also want to expand some things and help the business grow, which is definitely a good thing. A good thing, but stressful. There has been a lot of things that needed to be taken care of that was my responsibility as the bookkeeper, many of them things I had never actually done before.
Put all of that together with trying to organize, set up, and start homeschooling for the kiddo, and it’s been . . . a lot. My brain is very frazzled. I do get a three day weekend due to the holiday on Monday, so that will help, I think. Plus I’ve learned a few things with the homeschool stuff that I think will help me streamline some of it (I was spending several hours every night getting the next day’s stuff together – not fun trying to put together algebra worksheets and Korean flashcards when you’re already tired).
So back to the blog. I’m going to try and get back to posting starting next week, but I am announcing one thing that may help me get back to it: I am retiring the “Chapter-A-Long” project for the time being. I absolutely love doing it (and will definitely continue reading Legend) but those posts take a lot more time to write than I have right now. Instead, I will be bringing back another feature that I’ve done in the past and always enjoyed: “Added to Goodreads.” For anyone who is new here, this feature listed new books that I learned about over the previous week and also highlighted reviews from other bloggers that I enjoyed. It was fun, although it really notches up my already monstrous TBR pile. Oh well. AtG will take over the Monday slot, although I don’t know if I will post it this Monday or not since it’s a long weekend and I don’t know what my plans are.
In any case, I really just wanted to check in to say hello, that I’m still here, and will hopefully be back soon. Hope you are all staying safe and healthy!
