What did you recently finish reading?
I’ve finished quite a few things since last week, which makes me very happy indeed! Slowly closing that gap on my GoodReads goal! I finished Forever the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty, the fourth and final book of the Casters series. I am so glad I finally did it! This one has been a long time coming. I also finished How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. While it was extremely interesting and educational, it’s not necessarily a book to be “enjoyed.” Although I did enjoy it because I like learning things. Not sure exactly how I’m going to review it, although I have a few other reviews I need to get out of the way first, so I have some time to think about it. I also just finished Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein last night. What an emotional roller coaster that was!
What are you currently reading?
I am still reading The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman, although I am making very slow progress on it. Since it’s a very familiar re-read, it’s sort of become the book to read when I need to take a break from some of the heavier stuff. Does that make sense? I’m also still reading The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter, which I should hopefully finish either later today or tomorrow. It has been excellent so far and I can’t wait to see how it wraps up. Or what cliffhanger it decides to torture me with, since I know it’s the first in a series and the second book isn’t out yet. In addition to those, I have also started Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. This one is on my antiracist reading list, but it was on my TBR even before I found that list because I absolutely love Trevor Noah. I’ve only just started it, but it’s really good so far. I’m also reading Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson. This is a re-read which another attempt to complete a series, which should be easy to do since there are only two books.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Honestly, the only other book I have current plans to read next is Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. This is the next book for my #StartOnYourShelfathon TBR and I will probably start it tomorrow. And of course, I will read The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman once I finish The Subtle Knife, but that probably won’t be for a while.

I’m reading How To Be An AntiRacist at the moment and finding it such an interesting book. I’m glad you also found it useful. I don’t know how I’ll review it when I finish it either. I’ve seen really good reviews of Born A Crime so I hope you enjoy it.

It was an incredibly interesting book and extremely relevant right now. I have no idea how to review it though because it feels so outside my realm of expertise. This is why I don’t review a lot of non-fiction stuff here.
I find it harder to review non-fiction too. It’s always hard when it’s either someone’s life story or it’s a subject that you don’t know how to write about. I’m sure you’ll find the words.

I haven’t been confined as much, since I work for an “essential” business, but my hours were reduced, so I’ve definitely had some extra time. 🙂
I definitely agree with your conclusion about How to be an Antiracist. I actually tried to listen to the audiobook, and I ended up just DNFing it, because while it maybe talked about important topics and discussions, it was just such a bore to listen to, unfortunately. I feel like it’s one of those books that you have to really go in wanting to learn about the topic or it’ll lose you.
I really need to read Born a Crime still, but I’m a little bitter because neither of my libraries have the audiobook, and I really want to listen to the audiobook. xD

I didn’t find it boring, it was actually quite interesting and I feel like I learned a lot. But reviewing it will be difficult I think. It’s part of why I don’t review a lot of non-fiction, especially if it is something outside my experiences or expertise. If that makes sense.
Born a Crime is really good so far.
Born a Crime was excellent! And I loved Philip Pullman’s trilogy. I have Code Name Verity on my TBR and now that you have reminded me, I really want to crack into it.

Code Name Verity was so good. And I am enjoying my re-read of His Dark Materials. It’s been a while. 🙂
