WWW Wednesday – 6/10/20

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

Since my last WWW Wednesday, I finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Man, I had forgotten what a punch in the gut this book is. So beautiful, and yet so tragic, doubly so since the story is based on real events

What are you currently reading?

A few things. I’m still reading A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. This is the third book in the Ember in the Ashes series that I started last year. I also started reading Enter the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty, the second book in the Casters series. I’m ALSO reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. This is the much anticipated Hunger Games prequel, and I gotta say, I’m enjoying this one a lot so far.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I have been working through some re-reads, and also going back and reading along with some older Mark Reads projects and, as such, I will probably start The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman after I finish The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I also plan on reading the next Casters book, Embrace the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty. Beyond that, I have a few holds at my local library that I placed over the weekend, so it will depend on what comes available first.

Also, if you missed it, I am currently looking for a new focus for my Chapter-A-Long project and would like some input. I created a poll, which I will repost below, so please feel free to let me know your thoughts (I haven’t gotten any votes on this one yet). Or, if you have a better recommendation, please leave it in the comments. I’ll hopefully start the new series on Monday.

  1. So excited to hear people enjoyed The Ballad of Songbirds! I have it waiting on my Kindle, but won’t be getting to it anytime soon. https://teripolen.com/2020/06/10/www-wednesday-what-am-i-reading-amreading-39/

  2. I’m really curious about The Ballad Of Songbirds too. I’m rereading The Hunger Games and The Divergent series right now.

  3. I have been eyeing The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy whatever you read next.

    Here’s MY WWW POST

  4. I’ve been meaning to read An Ember in the Ashes since it first came out, gah. I can’t believe the third book is out already! I’m guessing it’s worth it since you’re reading the whole series!

    Here’s my WWW post!

    • It is a very well written series. The first one really grabbed me and although it’s taken me a while to get through the second and the third, that’s more because I’m fighting a reading slump at the moment. But yes, you should definitely read them!

  5. I like the idea of a chapter-a-long. I’m unfamiliar with these selections.

I’ve been meaning to get to the Book Thief because I’ve only heard great things. “Punch in the gut,” huh? I’m even more intrigued.

    • Chapter-A-Long posts are fun, although not my original idea for sure. There are a few other blogs that I follow that review books a chapter at a time and I thought I would give it a go. And yes, definitely read The Book Thief. It is one of the most well written books I have ever read.

  6. I have heard so much about The Book Thief, but still haven’t read it… I definitely need to read it soon!

  7. Enjoy your reading! I’m very curious to The ballad of songbirds and snakes!
