Teasers & Top Tens – 11/5/19

tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir, which I am so glad to get back to reading!

Izzi tosses in her sleep, her breathing ragged and labored. She flights out an arm, and her hand knocks into the ornate wooden paneling of the wagon. I stroke her wrist, whispering soothing words. In the muted lamplight, she looks pale as death.

I really hope Izzi’s okay. I love her character!

TTT-NEW

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Book Covers That Give Off Fall Vibes

1). Awakening by Carissa Andrews – I just started reading this one yesterday for an upcoming blog tour. Picture doesn’t really scream “Fall” but the colors sure do.

Awakening

2). The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith – This was for a prior blog tour (see the post here). I love this cover so much and it definitely feels like a harvest.

BOOK COVER

3). Shine by Lauren Myracle – Again, this is not a Fall related story, but somehow the lone flower left, the way the sunlight is streaming down, and the color of the landscape beyond feels very Fall.

Shine

4). Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder – This one should go without saying. Look at those beautiful Fall colors!

Fire Study

5). The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – What better way to start off a spooky season that spending some time with ghosts in a graveyard?

The Graveyard Book

6). Fire by Kristin Cashore – Another fire-related cover, but I can’t help it. The colors are so pretty and so Fall-like!

Fire

7). The Magician King by Lev Grossman – Everything about this cover is beautiful, from the colors, to the tree, to the clock inside it.

The Magician King

8). Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake – Another spooky cover and probably one of my favorite covers of all time. It’s so gorgeous!

Anna Dressed in Blood

9). Forever by Maggie Stiefvater – This is the last book in this series, but I do love how all the covers go together so well. This one definitely feels like Fall with its burgundy trees.

Forever

10). Under the Empyrean Sky by Chuck Wendig – I love me some Chuck Wendig and this whole series does have a lot to do with harvest. This cover has a lot of Fall colors too.

Also, on a side note, Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl, host of Top Ten Tuesday, is also organizing the Broke &  Bookish Secret Santa this year. I signed up for it and I’m so excited – I only got to do it once a few years ago, but it was super fun. There is still time if you want to participate as well. Just follow the instructions on this post.

That’s it for me today! Please leave your teasers or top tens in comments!
