WWW Wednesday – 4/3/19

WWW New

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What are you currently reading?

This week, if you haven’t seen it yet, I started reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling for my Chapter-A-Long series. Looking forward to continuing this challenge to myself. Also still reading Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas, book #5 in the Throne of Glass series. I’ve slowed down with this one again, but hope to pick back up on it in the next few weeks.

What did you recently finish reading?

Not quite finished, but I’m listing it here anyway, because I will probably finish it in the next hour or so: The Wrythe and the Reckoning by Yvonthia Leland. To be honest, I am only finishing this out of loyalty to NetGalley, because this one is hard. Review will be up tomorrow and I will go into more detail, but I am very glad this one is over.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Tomorrow, I will be starting The Raven’s Tale by Cat Winters, another NetGalley ARC. I’m hoping this one will be better than The Wrythe and the Reckoning has been. I’ve heard good things about it and the author seems really nice – she responded to me on Twitter, which was cool. I love when authors can interact with their fans! After finishing Empire of Storms, I plan on jumping back into Terre D’Ange and reading Kushiel’s Avatar by Jacqueline Carey, the last book in the Phédre Trilogy.

That sums up my current reading week. Are you reading anything good? If so, please share your WWW in comments!

  1. Nice list. I really need to read some of Sarah’s books. Everyone raves about them.

  2. I started Goblet of Fire this week as well. I am actually enjoying it much more the second time around. Here’s my WWW: https://greatmorrisonmigration.wordpress.com/2019/04/03/www-wednesdays-april-3-2019/

  3. Enjoy your books, all new to me. Thanks for sharing, and here’s MY WWW POST

  4. I can totally relate to finishing books because, oh, the pressure. It’s hard to say thanks but no thanks when you receive a free book. I’ve DNF’d, I think, only two books from NetGalley, and I always send remarks saying why, but I feel bad when I end up doing that.

The Raven’s Tale is on my TBR, too. I hope you have better luck with it than you did The Wrythe and the Reckoning (though, that’s one heck of a title, and I’m loving that at least haha).

    Here’s my WWW Wednesday post.

    • See, the title made it sound really interesting, but it was just so . . . blah, but in a weird way. I don’t know how I’m going to write a coherent review of it. It’s just a strange book. Even the GoodReads page for it is odd. I have a good feeling about The Raven’s Tale though. Cat Winters seems like a more established author, so I feel a bit better about it.

      • Yeah, I looked at Goodreads, and it seems like A LOT of people agree with your assessment, unfortunately. I’ve had books like that, though, where reviews are so hard. I’m sitting on one now that I’m trying to write, because there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with the book, but it was sort of just meh to me.

I have heard wonderful things about The Raven’s Tale. Which is why I added it to my TBR because, you know, peer pressure is real haha. So many people were talking about how good it was. So I hope it doesn’t disappoint! I look forward to seeing what you think.

  5. As a fellow Potterhead, I hope you’re enjoying HP. I read a book by Cat Winters a few years back, but honestly can’t remember much about it. I’ve heard this new one is pretty good. https://teripolen.com/2019/04/03/www-wednesdays-what-am-i-reading-amreading-5/

  6. I really like the Goblet of Fire. It’s such a good addition to the series.
