Booking Through Thursday is a blog that has a weekly question with a literary theme. This week’s question:
What do non-reader friends think about your reading habits? Do they understand? Are they sympathetic? Or are they always trying to get you to “get your nose out of that book?”
I am very lucky that I actually don’t have this problem. My husband doesn’t read as much as I do, but he enjoys a good book and understands what it’s like to get lost in a story. My daughter loves reading and has her nose in a book more often than not. My stepson also likes to read, although it’s not his favorite thing. He’s usually playing a video game of some sort, so he doesn’t really care if I’m reading or not. 🙂
The rest of the people around me – they know how much I read, or at least have an inkling. And for the most part, they think it’s kind of awesome. I get asked for book recommendations from time to time because they know I’m a good person to ask.

My family supports my reading love and even encourages me with gift cards to bookstores on special occasions. Part of it is that aren’t sure what I have or haven’t read so they let me pick it out myself! 🙂
I have the same experience with friends who don’t read as much. I’ll get questions about what to read from a lot of people.
