I should probably mention that these characters are mermaids. 🙂 This is the third book in the Five Hundred Kingdoms series and I’ve only just started it (this is the very end of chapter one). But hey, I like mermaids!

I enjoy Mercedes Lackey’s books, but I am not familiar with this one or the previous books in the series. I like the idea of a book about mermaids!
This series is no where near as well-known as, say, the Valdemar books, but they are really, really good.
