Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:
Ten Quotes From or About Books
I don’t always save quotes from books that I read – the way my brain is working these days, I’m lucky if I remember plot points after a while. So yes, I am turning to GoodReads for help on this one. Here are some from some of my favorite authors.
1). “Ah coffee. The sweet balm by which we shall accomplish today’s tasks.” – Holly Black, Ironside
2). “If this isn’t hell, the devil is surely taking notes,” – Stuart Turton, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
3). “We accept the love we think we deserve.” – Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
4). “Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one.” – John Green, Paper Towns
5). “You don’t forget the face of the person who was your last hope.” – Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games
6). ” … a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.” – George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
7). “I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” – J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
8). “Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.” – Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess
9). “I’ve looked at the world for quite a few years now and I’ve found that if I don’t laugh, I’ll probably end up crying.” – David Eddings, Demon Lord of Karanda
10). “I decided to deflect her attitude by giving a long, Southern answer. I come from people who know how to draw things out. Annoy a Southerner, and we will drain away the moments of your life with our slow, detailed replies until you are nothing but a husk of your former self and that much closer to death.” – Maureen Johnson, The Name of the Star
