Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:
Ten New-To-Me Authors That I Read in 2025
A benefit to trying to read all of the GoodReads Choice Award winners was not only reading genres that I don’t usually read, but also reading a bunch of new authors that I hadn’t heard of before (or at least, hadn’t read). Here is a list of my favorite ones, and one of the book of theirs that I read:
- Alison Espach (The Wedding People)
- Ashley Flowers (All Good People Here)
- Emily Henry (Funny Story)
- Lisa Jewell (None of This is True)
- T.J. Klune (House on the Cerulean Sea)
- Ariel Lawhon (The Frozen River)
- Fiona McPhillips (When We Were Silent)
- Liz Moore (The God of the Woods)
- Rebecca Ross (Divine Rivals)
- Ellen Marie Wiseman (The Lost Girls of Willowbrook)
The funny thing about this is that the genre I typically read is fantasy and, except for two of these, none of them are fantasy at all. I love that I’ve ventured into different genres so much last year!
Please leave your top tens in comments!

Liz Moore has been on a few different lists this week.
Her book was so good! I want to read more of her stuff!
I love Klune, Lawhon, and Henry, and Espach, so we clearly have book tastes in common. I haven’t heard of McPhillips or Wiseman so I’ll look them up.
They are also very good. The ones I read were definitely thrillers, and had some slightly disturbing subject matter, so be advised. Still worth it though.
I’ve wanted to read a Lisa Jewell book for some time now. Maybe I’ll try to read one this year. I hope you find many more amazing authors this year 😊.

I had heard of her for years and got this book at a holiday swap with my book club. Very glad I found her. Can’t wait to read more of her stuff.
Ahhh, some familiar faces on your list!

They’re all so talented. So glad I found them last year!
I remember really loving The House in the Cerulean Sea when I read it a while back! It’s deliberately feelgood, and that’s sometimes a lovely thing. I’m getting tempted to reread!
My TTT post is here!
It’s just so sweet. Have you read the sequel yet? It’s also very good.
Love your list! Here’s mine: https://top100booksreviews.wordpress.com/2026/01/27/top-10-tuesday-discovery-2025/
Loved your list too! The only name I recognized was Taylor Jenkins Reid, but she’s awesome. I need to read more of her stuff.
There are a few authors on your list I love, I’m glad you discovered them. Thanks for sharing your #TTT
It was a good year of reading, that’s for sure!
The Frozen River is one I’m super curious about and I want to read more Rebecca Ross too!
I had never heard of it, but it was selected for my book club last year. It was so good!
I have seen it mentioned a lot on Instagram but I’m so glad you liked it!!
Wow, I haven’t read any of these authors. Though Liz Moore was on many a TTT’er new authors list this go around 🙂 Good stuff. My list is here if interested.
