Book Blogger Hop – January 9, 2026

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:

Looking back, which books from 2025 stood out as your favorites?

I answered this a bit on my Top Ten Tuesday post, but here I will give you my three top favorites: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore, and None of This is True by Lisa Jewell. There were many others that were great, but I would say that these three stood out.

Be sure to check out the other answers of this week’s Book Blogger Hop and let me know about your stand out 2025 reads!

  1. I answered it in my TTT too. I struggled to get it to 10 😂

    Have a great week!

    My post: https://budgettalesblog.wordpress.com/2026/01/09/book-blogger-hop-which-books-from-2025-stood-out-as-your-favourites/

  2. I seen Sunrise on the Reaping on other people’s favorite list.

  3. A few of those books and authors are new to me, and I’m always eager to learn about different stories and voices—especially when they might lead me to my next great read. Happy Reading!

  4. Empire of the Dawn was my #1 Favorite (Speculative Fiction) Book of 2025. This is because the author did an excellent job wrapping up the trilogy, made sure all of the loose ends were tied up, and added shocking twists that appeared to come out of nowhere, but made sense within the narrative. I wrote more about it in my review on my blog.

I will say this about Sunrise on the Reaping: I hope the movie adaptation doesn’t omit the critical parts of the narrative because they’re essential for the entire series.

    • I haven’t read Empire of the Dawn but I’ve seen it around. It’s always nice when a series is tied up nicely at the end.

And yes, I do hope that movie does it justice, but I’m also not too worried. The Hunger Games movies are, in my opinion, some of the best book adaptations I’ve seen in a long while. They have a good crew and the cast looks great.
