WWW Wednesday – August 6, 2025

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

Since my last WWW post was a few weeks ago, I’ve finished quite a few things. I finished Resolution of the Marked by March McCarron, the fourth and final book of the Marked series. I absolutely loved this series and the last book was very bittersweet. I also finished How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang, the GoodReads Award winner for Best Debut in 2024. I don’t know if I was coming off a heavy series too quickly, but this book was only so-so for me. I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it either. Finally, I finished The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith. This is the next series that I will be tackling for my “Complete the Series” challenge. I remember loving this the first time around and it was just as charming the second time. Looking forward to the next books in the series.

What are you currently reading?

Funny story, that. I am currently reading The Conjurer by Luanne G. Smith, which I thought was the second book of the Vine Witch series. It is not. It’s the third one. When I nabbed them from Kindle Unlimited (the whole series is there, which was nice – actually, the Marked series is also there if you want to check those out), I thought I knew which one was the next book. I was wrong. However, it seems like these, while still being part of the series, are somewhat independent of each other. They each tell the story of a different character – The Vine Witch was about a witch named Elena, while The Conjurer is the story of a jinn named Sidra. Sidra is in the first book, but is not a focal point in anyway. So while I’m reading these technically out of order, I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Up next will be the actual second book in the Vine Witch series, The Glamourist by Luanne G. Smith. This book seems more tied into the first one, telling the story of Yvette, another side character from The Vine Witch. It looks like Elena is also in this one, so it might be a closer link to the first book. Either way, I’m looking forward to it. Plus, this will finish another series on my challenge and will actually finish my challenge – it will be my seventh series finished this year! Yay!

Also, can we say something about the cover art for this series – they are gorgeous!

That’s my reading for the week!
