Book Blogger Hop – July 4, 2025

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:

Has your perspective on reading changed as you’ve grown older? If so, has it affected how you write your reviews?

This is an interesting question. I don’t know if my perspective on reading has changed all that much. I know the types of books I read have changed considerably, but other than that, I think I’m mostly the same. I was a weird pre-teen who loved to read and now I’m a weird adult who loves to read. The genres have shifted over the years, but the way I think about reading hasn’t changed. It’s still the way that I escape from the world to experience something new and exciting.

And I don’t think the way I write reviews has changed all that much over the years either, at least from the time I started writing. I actually went back and looked at my old blog (which only has two reviews on it) and the only difference is that I used to summarize the stories a bit more, which made my reviews a bit longer than they are now. So I guess that’s a change, but I’m not sure if it has anything to do with my perspective on reading as a whole, if that makes sense.

Be sure to check out the other entries in this weeks Book Blogger Hop!

  1. Haven’t really thought about that either

      • There are several ways to interpret that question- perspective could refer to different things

I always loved reading- at least, that didn’t change. But there were some things I had to learn a lesson from- “don’t judge a book by its cover” was one of them (when I look at my high school self, I couldn’t believe I was close-minded to tragedies; the only ironic thing was that I already did like on in those years, which was The Iliad)

  2. Oh same – I was the weird kid who always had their nose in a book, and now I’m the weird ‘adult’ who always has their nose in several books. I’m a little more widely read than I was back then but still read just as voraciously and will choose a good book over most other things!

  3. I didn’t even think about how my genre choices have changed so radically over the years. when i was a kid i read fantasy almost exclusively. now i read almost everything i can get my hands on.
