Teasers & Top Tens – April 1, 2025

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from Lion Heart by A.C. Gaughen.

“Married,” I whispered out loud, my head on his shoulder.

“That did happen, didn’t it?” he said, his chest rumbling beneath me. I could hear the smile in his voice without looking up.

Finally something happy happening to these two! It’s about time!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:

Ten Books You’d Be a Fool Not To Read

See what she did there? You’d be a FOOL not to read? Happy April Fools’ Day, everyone. Be careful out there! Also, how did it get to be April already? That feels wrong.

We can get creative with this one, and I decided to go with some classics. After all, I was an English major back in college, and there are a bunch of books that I truly think everyone should read at least once in their lives. These are pretty well known and have entered into popular culture, but I don’t know if most people have ever read the originals. So, without further ado, here they are:

  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
  2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  3. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
  4. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  5. Beloved by Toni Morrison
  6. Dracula by Bram Stoker
  7. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  8. The Color Purple by Alice Walker
  9. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
  10. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Please leave your teasers and top tens in comments!

  1. The Color Purple is an excellent choice.

  2. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the few books I’ve ever reread.

  3. I was an English major too. I’ve read all of these except The Color Purple. It’s on my TBR list.
