Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from Beauty and the Werewolf by Mercedes Lackey.
The door opened, spilling out light and heat and laughter and a snatch of music into the darkened street. It closed again, and Isabella Beauchamps shivered with delighted anticipation.
First sentence of the book and we’re going to a party! This is the final book in the Five Hundred Kingdoms series, so hopefully this one goes out with a bang!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:
Top Ten (or Five) Books Featuring Travel
I don’t have many of these because, even though I love traveling, I don’t read about it as much as I would like. Here are five of my favorites though.
- 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson: This book is nothing but traveling, specifically backpacking through Europe. It makes me wish that my aunt had left me a crazy scavenger hunt across the world!
- Paper Towns by John Green: The entire last part of the book is a mad dash up the east coast in an absolutely insane road trip to find their friend.
- Going Bovine by Libba Bray: Does it count if the traveling is one big hallucination? I’m going to say yes, yes it does. It definitely makes the trip more interesting.
- Mosquitoland by David Arnold: This is such a quirky, heartbreaking book and I absolutely adore the main character. The whole story is a journey, in more ways than one.
- Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: This book is the quintessential cross country road trip – with someone you barely know. Learn about obscure destinations all across America! Learn even more about yourself.

I loved Paper Towns. I love anything John Green writes though. Mosquitoland sounds really good as well!
Agreed. I love John Green so much. And you should definitely check out Mosquitoland – it was such a good read.
Mosquitoland sounds interesting.
It’s so good! Definitely worth a read!
I haven’t read these, but several sound like fun! Here is our <a href=”https://www.longandshortreviews.com/miscellaneous-musings/top-ten-tuesday-boat-books/“>Top Ten Tuesday.</a> Thank you!
They’re all really good. Who doesn’t like a good road trip!
Mosquitoland was so good. You’d probably like Greyhound by Steffan Piper if you liked Mosquitoland
I’ll have to check it out!
I’ll have to check out Morgan Matson’s – I really enjoyed the book by her that I read. My TTT
This is the only one of hers that I’ve read. I should check out some of her other works.
I haven’t read any of these. I enjoy Maureen Johnson’s writing, so I should probably check out 13 LITTLE BLUE ENVELOPES. Sounds fun!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
