WWW Wednesday – August 7, 2024

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

Since last week, I finished The Snow Queen by Mercedes Lackey. It was a fun read, but definitely not my favorite of the Five Hundred Kingdoms series so far. I also finished The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei. That book was excellent. The review should be posted tomorrow, so be sure to check that out.

What are you currently reading?

My library hold came through for City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare, so I’m currently listening to that on audiobook. I also started the new book for Ezeekat’s Book Club, The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. I’m only a few chapters in, but I already love it. I will be reading it pretty much through the entire month since I’m reading with the club, so this will take a while. I’m also continuing in the Five Hundred Kingdoms series with The Sleeping Beauty by Mercedes Lackey, and I’m definitely enjoying it more than The Snow Queen. I’m not sure why, but that book just didn’t vibe with me, and I usually like Lackey’s work. Oh well.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The current plan is to continue with my current series, which means I will be listening to City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. This is the last in the Mortal Instruments series, so I will need to decide if I want to keep going with another Shadowhunter series or go to something else. I’ll need to see what’s available at my library. I will also read Beauty and the Werewolf by Mercedes Lackey. This is the last Five Hundred Kingdoms book, which means I will have crossed another series off my “Complete the Series” challenge for this year! Yay!

That’s my reading for the week! Please leave your WWW in comments!

  1. I love that cover of The Stardust Grail! I hope you will enjoy your books this week and happy reading.

  2. The Five Hundred Kingdoms series sounds good. Its strange how some books click and others don’t even though they are by the same author.

    Have a great week!

    My post:

    • I’ve had that problem with Lackey before. I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, but from what I remember, I wasn’t too enthralled with the third one, which is why I stopped originally.

      • That’s a shame, especially if one book makes you miss out on better ones in the series. I wasn’t sure about The Duke and I by Julia Quinn but I decided to risk reading the next one and absolutely loved it!

Glad to see you’re liking The Sleeping Beauty more than The Snow Queen 🙂 Everytime I see Lackey books I want to read them she just has so many cool-sounding books! Hope you’re having a great week.
