WWW Wednesday – February 21, 2024

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On A World Of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

These past few weeks have been a bit rough. I’ve either been sick or injured for most of 2024 so far. Not cool, 2024. Not cool. It means I haven’t read as much this year and haven’t posted a WWW post since January 31st, both of which are very annoying to me. But I have finished quite a few books since then, so let’s get into that.

I finished The Last Orphans series by N.W. Harris. There were three more books that I needed to read: The Harvest, Enslaved, and Darkest Days. I have mixed feelings about it, but I’m glad that I finally finished them. On the audiobook front, I finished two more: The Circle by Dave Eggers and Paper Towns by John Green. I am very close to setting up an Audible account so I can get more audiobooks and not just be at the mercy of my library holds. I have a few that I really want to listen to and my library either doesn’t have them or the wait is really long.

What are you currently reading?

Remember when I mentioned last month that I had joined a book club? The next meeting is coming up soon, which means another read! We are reading Beauty by Robin McKinley, which you may have guessed is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I’ve only just started it, so I don’t have much of an opinion yet, but it’s been pretty slow so far. I need things to pick up a bit. For my audiobook, I am reading Going Bovine by Libba Bray. This is one I’ve been meaning to reread for a while now, mostly because I put it on my husband’s book list for this year and want to refresh my memory on it. It’s been several years since I read it and all I could remember was that it was delightfully weird.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I was originally going to start Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, but then the next book club book and meeting were announced and I needed to hop on that, so I will definitely be picking that up once I’m done with Beauty. For my next audiobook, I really want to reread The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. This is what will probably push me over to Audible, as my library only has the second book in the series in audiobook. The second book! Who does that! I love that series though and haven’t revisited it in a while, so I thought it would be a fun one to listen to.

That’s my reading for the week! I should be around more now that I’m starting to feel a bit better. I have more reviews to write, so be sure to look forward to that soon.

  1. I love Robin McKinley’s work, but it is often quite slow. She actually did two Beauty and the Beast retellings, because the story got really under her skin: the other is Rose Daughter.

    Here’s my WWW!

  2. I really hope you enjoy Strange the Dreamer. You’ve read a lot of books! The Iron Fey series was one that I read so long ago and sometimes feel like I want to re-read! I hope you enjoy it. Happy reading!
