WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!
What did you recently finish reading?
It’s always hard to come back to doing WWW after taking a break because I have to try and figure out what exactly I did. Luckily, since I was battling the aforementioned reading slump, there hasn’t been that much.
Since my last post, I finished the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, and The Retribution of Mara Dyer). This was a series on my “Complete the Series” challenge list, so I was very happy to get back to it. I thought it was great. Definitely kept me reading.
The other book I finished was from my “Beat the Backlist” TBR – The Girl In Between by Laekan Zea Kemp. I am very confused about this book, or to be more specific, about the book’s status or situation. It’s supposed to be the first book in a series, and it ended on a pretty good cliffhanger, but when I started looking for the other books, they just . . . didn’t exist? There are three other books, the last one published in 2016, but they aren’t on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or anywhere other than listed on GoodReads. The author even answered a question about this on GoodReads with a link to the second book on Amazon, but that link doesn’t go anywhere. It’s very strange.
Also, her author bio says that her debut novel is came out in 2022, but this series was written well before that? I’m so confused! And I really want to read the rest of the series, but I can’t!
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading another book off of my “Beat the Backlist” TBR – Allusion by Andi Hyldahl. I also chose this one to read for an “A” title for my “A-to-Z Challenge.” It’s really good so far. Got super mysterious really fast and now I have to know what happens!’
What do you think you’ll read next?
My current plan is to go to another “Beat the Backlist” book and read Banded by Logan Byrne. This is a dystopian story that sounds a little bit like Divergent, so I’m curious to see how it is. Depending on the story (and whether or not I can find the other books lol), I will most likely read this whole series. It’s a trilogy, but the books are fairly short. That’s the plan, anyway.
That’s my reading for the week! Please leave your WWW in comments!
