Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel.
This summons an unexpected memory of his mother. For three years after Lucas died, Alkaitis used to come home from school sometimes and find his mother sitting perfectly still in the living room, staring at nothing, like she was watching a film only she could see.
“Was he depressed?” Alkaitis asks.
“Bro, it’s prison. Everyone’s depressed.”

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic:
Ten Books on My Spring 2023 To-Read List
My current plan for reading is as follows . . .
- The Road by Cormac McCarthy
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck & Fortune by Roselle Lim
- The Fire Keeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
- The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
- The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
- The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
- Incubation by Laura DiSilverio
- Incineration by Laura DiSilverio
This plan knocks six books off of my “Beat the Backlist” challenge and one more series off my “Complete the Series” challenge. Progress!

I actually finished it today and I don’t know what to think yet.
Hope these are all great reads. I loved Speak and Wintergirls when I read them.

I’m looking forward to them. I’ve had them on my bookshelf for years.
Ah you are going to love The Firekeeper’s Daughter!
I can’t wait. The cover is gorgeous!
I’ve always meant to read Hodkin’s series. I hope you love it.
I’ve read the first one but it’s been a few years and I don’t remember much. I want to read the rest too this time.
I hope you enjoy all of these! The Firekeeper’s Daughter was one that I really enjoyed!
My Top Ten!
Can’t wait to read it!
I read Wintergirls some time last year, and I liked it though the whole book is about some pretty hard topics. I hope you enjoy these books!

Laurie Halas Anderson doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. I really admire that. These are important things to talk about, especially for a YA audience.
I 100% agree. It’s something that I’ve seen more of in the genre as of late, and I’m glad. Anderson does it well; I’ve read Catalyst by her and it’s another heart-grabbing book.
