Teaser Tuesday – February 14, 2023

tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser comes from The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

We yearned for the future. How did we learn it, that talent for insatiability? It was in the air; and it was still in the air, an afterthought as we tried to sleep, in the army cots that had been set up in rows, with spaces between so we could not talk. We had flannelette sheets, like children’s, and army-issue blankets, old ones that still said U.S.

Leaving the island of Fennbirn and the Three Dark Crowns and heading to Gilead. Okay, so not the most cheerful Valentine’s Day teaser, but oh well. I’ve never been a huge fan of the holiday anyway lol.

Please leave your teasers in comments!
