WWW Wednesday – 9/23/20

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

Since last week, um . . . nothing? I did, however, get my reading stuff more organized, which brings me to our next question.

What are you currently reading?

So many things!!! I am going back to my little reading schedule sticky notes, since that is the absolute best way for me to feel less overwhelmed while still getting a lot of reading done. I am still working on The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, although I’ve slowed down a bit on it since I’m reading other things. I’ve also picked back up on Legend by Marie Lu, which I technically hadn’t stopped reading, but I’m definitely reading it more in earnest now. New books that I have started include: Hallowed by Cynthia Hand (book #2 in the Unearthly series), Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff (to be read with the Nerdist Book Club), and Axiom’s End by Lindsay Ellis (a new book written by one of my favorite YouTubers). I can honestly say that I am thoroughly enjoying all of these, but I’m also just happy to be reading again.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I really want to read The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter but it doesn’t come out until November. I have it on preorder though, so once it’s here, I will start it – no matter what else is going on. I also just got a copy of Each of Us a Desert by Mark Oshiro (of Mark Reads fame) and can’t wait to dig into that one. The only other books that I currently have planned to read are Boundless by Cynthia Hand (book #3 in the Unearthly series) and Prodigy by Marie Lu (book #2 in the Legend series).

Fighting the reading slump temptation as best I can, folks! Feels like it’s working for now! Let me know what you’re reading – please leave your WWW in comments!

  1. I am curious about Lovecraft Country. Enjoy your reading…and here’s MY WWW POST

  2. I recently organized all my library books into Must Read because I can’t renew them (generally new releases), Want to Read for those that I crazily think I’ll want to read before I’ll have to renew them, and Don’t Waste Your Time pile, not because they are not good books, but I wrote them down and might revisit them later when I’m not drowning in books.

When I’m in a reading slump, I usually rely upon Audiobooks. Have you any interest in that form of reading?

  3. I really enjoyed Legend! I hope it will be a good one for you as well. Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

  4. Enjoy your reading!

  5. I’d love to read more about this reading schedule that you talked about. I’m a student so it sounds like it might be incredibly helpful. This is our WWW Wednesday https://mybookjar.com/blog/www-wednesday-48/

    • It’s pretty silly really. I started doing it back when I was participating in a lot of blog tours and getting ARCs from NetGalley. Basically, I figure out about how long I want to take reading a book and divide it up, usually across ten days or so (longer for a longer book, of course). That way I make sure to read at least a little bit every day. It’s especially helpful when you need to review a book by a certain date (like the blog tours, for example). That way I wouldn’t get to far behind. It was also helpful when I used to work at a place where I could read at work if nothing else was going on.

I wrote a post about it last year, if you’re interested: https://lifewithnoplot.com/2019/08/16/weekly-wrap-up-8-16-19/

  6. I’m looking forward to your review of Legend. I’m new to Marie Lu’s writing and want to see how other’s experience her 🙂 Happy reading! Here’s my WWW Wednesday

  7. I want to start my copy of Axiom’s End so badly, but I’ve been forcing myself to stay on top of the TBR I laid out for myself. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

  8. I still need to read Legend! I’ve heard it’s good. The Fires of Vengeance!!! Yes. I’m on a blog tour for it, and I’m super excited about it. 😀 Each of Us a Desert looked really good, though. Hope you enjoy whatever you end up picking up next!

    Here’s my WWW post.

    • I didn’t realize The Fires of Vengeance was going on a blog tour! That’s awesome! Yeah, I honestly can’t wait for that one. I just posted my review of The Rage of Dragons and I think it was just me rambling about how amazing it was.

Legend is really, really good so far. I think I’m a little over halfway through it and I’m completely hooked.

  9. How do you like Lovecraft Country so far? I want to read it before I watch the TV series, but it has been on hold at my library forever. Happy reading 🙂
