Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser is from Splintered by A.G. Howard.
“Do you really think these are Alice’s tears?” I ask. “That I’m supposed to make them go away somehow?”
“I’m the wrong guy to ask. I just saw a skeleton with antlers and a forest of aphid-noshing flower zombies.”
I just finished this book. I love it so much!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:
Ten Posts I’ve Written That Give You the Best Glimpse of Me
This was a tough one, partly because I don’t always talk about my personal life too much on the blog (although that’s changing slightly), but also because I have over 1400 posts, dating back to 2011. That’s a lot of ground to cover! I did find a few that I’m proud of that gives a pretty good overview of who I am. Here it is (or here I am!)
- Daily OM: Lesson 2 – Work. Back in 2022, I purchased a writing course over on the Daily OM website called “A Year of Writing to Uncover the Authentic Self.” There was a prompt each week and, while I never actually finished the whole year, I did write quite a few posts. This one goes over all of the jobs I’ve had, the ones I’ve liked and the ones I hated.
- World Boardgaming Championships 2024. This one is much more recent, posted almost one month ago. Going to WBC has become an annual tradition for me and my family. This recap shows why we keep going and why it and this hobby are so important to me.
- New Project! Speaking of hobbies, one of the hobbies I spend the most time on is crochet. Last year, I tried to make crochet projects based on some of my favorite book covers. It was a lot of fun and I made some really beautiful pieces.
- Next Book Inspired Project Complete. Another crochet post. This project was a beautiful accident. It’s also one of the largest things I’ve ever made. I’m really proud of it.
- July Blogging Challenge: Day 23. This is from 2018, when I took part in a challenge called “31 Days of Smallish Blogging.” Each day had a prompt and this one goes into my basic spiritual beliefs. Of course, anything spiritual is going to be more complicated than a small sentence, but this pretty much sums it up.
- Imposter Syndrome. This was a lengthy post I wrote, also in 2018. One of the rare posts where I got really deep into some of my insecurities. There are a lot of them!
- A personal note on Dear Evan Hansen. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that I am a big theater fan. This post talks about one of the more intense theater experiences I’ve ever had and how it affected me and my kiddo.
- Book Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Since this is a book blog, I feel like I would be remiss if I didn’t include the review for my favorite book. I love this book so very much. It is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read.
- Book Review: The Wrythe and the Reckoning by Yvonthia Leland. If I’m sharing the best book I’ve ever reviewed, I feel like I should share the worst one. This book was so bizarre, but doesn’t even compare to all the weird social media stuff that surrounded it and its author. If you were blogging back in 2019, do you remember all of that? It was wild!
- Booking Through Thursday – August 18th. This is a weekly feature that no longer updates, unfortunately. Each week had a book related question to answer, and this one asked what was the most mind-blowing or world-changing book I’ve ever read. Which can be a difficult question, but I think I liked my answer.
