Book Blogger Hop – April 3, 2026

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:

Which book really showcases your favorite author’s style, and what makes it stand out?

The hardest part of this question is trying to narrow down my favorite author. There are so many good ones to chose from! For this, I think I will go with John Green and his novel Paper Towns. It is my favorite of his books, mostly because I started watching his YouTube channel back when he was writing it and got to follow along a little bit on the process.

One thing I love about John Green is how he writes teenagers. As a woman approaching middle age (or pretty much there now, let’s be honest), I’ve started looking back at the younger generation a lot. It makes me sound old to say this, but times have changed so much since I was their age. It’s easy to be dismissive of previous generations and the situations they go through, but just because they’re young doesn’t mean that they aren’t deep and complex people. Green captures that so well. He also loves a manic pixie dream girl (see Alaska, Lindsey, Margo, Hazel to a lesser degree), but he also subverts the manic pixie trope in different ways, which are fun to read.

Be sure to check out the other answers of this week’s Book Blogger Hop and let me know which of your favorite author’s books stands out!
