Book Blogger Hop is a weekly feature hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week, a new book related question is posted and everyone can share their answers. This week’s question is:

What drives you to read books?

This is a very strange question to me. I don’t know if there’s anything particularly that DRIVES me to read. From the time I was little, I’ve always wanted to read. I was one of the first kids in my kindergarten class that knew how. Books were my best friends. They helped me through intense bullying during my elementary school years and drew me to new bookish friends through middle school and high school. Throughout my life, books have been my near constant companions. I studied English Literature at university with the goal of becoming a teacher, to spread the joy of books to others.

(Obviously, that part didn’t happen, but it was my original intention when I went back to school.)

For what drives me to read now, I guess it’s mostly escapism. With as ugly as the world is right now, diving into a new world is something that makes me feel better, or at least lets me hide from our world for a while. I think everyone needs that from time to time.
