MONTH IN REVIEW: July 2025

July was a really weird month. I was super checked in for the first half of it, but then super checked out for the last bit. Most of that was due to vacation plans, and the planning of vacation plans, but still it was a pretty good month. Let’s see how things went.

July Reads

  • The Wedding People by Alison Espach
  • Division of the Marked by March McCarron
  • Elevation of the Marked by March McCarron
  • Lamentation of the Marked by March McCarron
  • Resolution of the Marked by March McCarron
  • How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang
  • The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith

Seven reads this month was more than I realized, so yay! And it was definitely better than last month was!

Challenge Updates

GoodReads Challenge: My goal is to read 75 books this year. As of the end of July, I have 41 books read. According to GoodReads, I am only two books behind schedule, which is more progress than last month, where I was three books behind. I’m gaining ground!

GoodReads Awards Challenge: My goal was to read all fourteen of the winners of 2024’s GoodReads Choice Awards. This month, I read the winner for Best Debut, How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang. That makes nine out of fourteen winners read so far this year. Only five to go!

Complete the Series Challenge: My goal was to complete seven series that I have not finished (you can see my list here). This month, I finished the Marked series by March McCarron, which brings my total series completed up to six! This is the first year that I’ve made real progress on this goal. I’m very pleased with that!

Blog Updates

I made 14 blog posts in July, which tracks with how I said I was only really active for half the month. I was at the World Boardgaming Convention for the last week (more on that later, I promise!) and trying to prepare for the trip the week prior. With all that going on, 14 posts is pretty darn good. Here’s the breakdown.

  • Month In Review: 1
  • Teaser/Top Ten Tuesday: 1
  • WWW Wednesday: 3
  • Book Blogger Hop: 2
  • Sunday Post: 2
  • Reviews: 5

Five reviews! That’s pretty good! I’m still a bit behind, but now that I’m done traveling, I should be able to catch up fairly quickly.

Overall, July was a pretty good month, if a bit broken up by travels and such. I still feel pretty good about my progress on things and feel confident that I can keep this energy up into August.
