June was . . . well, it happened. I will be completely honest: I was not doing well in June. Most of it was depression which, of course, makes everything more difficult. It has led to a blogging and reading slump that I am slooowwwwlllyyy trying to pull myself out of. Taking things one day at a time. But enough about that. Let’s take a look at how June actually went.
June Reads

- The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
- The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley
- Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Only three books this month, but honestly, the way my brain has been working . . . three books is just fine. Three very good books that I really enjoyed (Heartless should have had five stars on there too, I just forgot to update it in Bookmory).
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal is to read 75 books this year. As of the end of June, I am at 34 books. According to GoodReads, this is only three books behind schedule, which isn’t too bad. I’ve been worse.
GoodReads Awards Challenge: My goal was to read all fourteen of the winners of 2024’s GoodReads Choice Awards. This is one thing that I definitely made progress in this month, as two of my three reads counted towards this challenge, with The God of the Woods (Best Mystery/Thriller) and The Ministry of Time (Best Science Fiction). This brings me to seven out of fourteen books read – halfway through at the halfway point of the year! That’s pretty good, isn’t it?
Complete the Series Challenge: My goal was to complete seven series that I have not finished (you can see my list here). I did not focus on this one at all, so I’m still sitting at five series completed for the year, but I do plan on jumping back on this one after I’m done with what I’m currently reading. So I will have updates when I recap for July.
Blog Updates
Meh. I didn’t blog all that much last month, but let’s break it down.
- Month in Review: 1
- Teaser/Top Ten Tuesdays: 2
- WWW Wednesdays: 2
- Reviews: 1
Yep, only six times. But I did at least get a review in there, so that’s something. At least I didn’t completely disappear!
Overall, June was a month where I struggled mentally and had a lot of difficulty focusing. I am working very hard to put myself back to rights again, so hopefully this month will be better.

June for me:
Reading- only made progress on James and Islands of the Blessed
Savannah Bananas- a show with a baseball game in it
Movie- How to Train Your Dragon (live action)
Celebrate America Concert- The Pops (Symphony in the Park); ended with fireworks
Oh, how was How To Train Your Dragon? From the clips I’ve seen, it looked like they were pretty much sticking to the animated version exactly, almost frame for frame.
Wouldn’t know if it exactly frame to frame- live action was my beginning. I loved that movie
