Sunday Post – September 8, 2024

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap what’s happened at the blog, and talk about things coming up. Let’s go!

Weekly Wrap Up

This week has been a strange series of ups and downs. We’re finally getting busier at work, which is definitely a good thing, but does have it’s downsides. I wasn’t quite ready for the deluge yet! I’ve made some good progress on a lot of projects to prepare for the upcoming season, and I feel fairly good about where I’m sitting. Plus it means I get more hours, which definitely helps the paycheck!

My job is also taking us all on a zoo trip for a company picnic. It’s sort of an employee appreciation thing. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been to the North Carolina Zoo so I’m really looking forward to it. I also get to bring the hubs, the kiddo, and my mom with me. It should be lots of fun.

The bad stuff for the week is that there has been some family drama. Not in my immediate family – we’re all good. I’m not going to go into details, but it basically was the nail in the coffin of completely cutting someone out of my life. I had made this decision a couple of years ago due to some really horrible things that this person did (of which they had no remorse for – their apology was along the lines of “I’m sorry that you feel angry,” not admitting that what they did was wrong), but there was still a part of me that wanted to give them another chance. That door has been shut. It’s necessary, but it still hurts a little.

Ugh, didn’t mean to get so serious there. Trying to focus on the positives. My daughter has a solid lead on a job, which would be amazing. The hubs and I are still having fun playing lots of boardgames (played five yesterday – Ticket to Ride Europe, Sagrada, Lanterns, Kingdom Builder and Ingenious). My mom and I are still watching Are You Sure? on Disney+ and loving it. My third term of my Korean learning school started and is going well. Things are good.

Last Week On the Blog

Also, is “round up” two words or one? Round up? Roundup? I think I’ve done it both ways. I think I’ve seen it done both ways.

  1. I hope you and yours have a fun time at the zoo. That’s a creative work outing. Sorry you had extended family drama, definitely no fun! Have a great week!

  2. oh I didn’t realize you were near NC. We are members of that zoo as we tend to be zoo members. We haven’t been there yet this year as my daughter has not felt her best and has been working on her health issues. The weather here is gorgeous and comfortable now, so it should be a great zoo visit.

  3. I love when companies do things for their employees. Seems to be the smaller companies that do that? At least in my experience. I worked for one that took us to Universal Studios one year and my sister worked for one that rented out the Santa Monica Pier for the night. I’ve never gotten anything working for large companies.

    Enjoy the Zoo!
