August was a pretty good month, reading-wise. Pretty good blogging-wise, too. Let’s take a look!
August Reads
- City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
- The Sleeping Beauty by Mercedes Lackey
- City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
- Beauty and the Werewolf by Mercedes Lackey
- Splintered by A.G. Howard
- Songlight by Moira Buffini
- Unhinged by A.G. Howard
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
Eight books for the month! Not too shabby! Plus another series completed and another NetGalley ARC!
No physical book copies read this time, only digital formats. I think because they’re just so much more portable? Since most of them I can carry on my phone?
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal was to read 75 books this year. As of the end of August, I am officially at 51. GoodReads says that I am one book ahead of schedule, so still keeping pace with this one! Very happy about that!
Complete the Series: My goal this year was to complete six of the nineteen series that I havenβt completed yet. In August, I finished another series – the Five Hundred Kingdoms series by Mercedes Lackey. This is a six book series that I had only read the first three books prior to this. With the completion of this series, I am now up to four series on the list completed this year, so this challenge seems to be also going well.
Beat the Backlist: Sigh. As usual, this is my Achilles’ heel! I think part of it is because it’s very hard to do both this challenge and the Complete the Series challenge at the same time, since they are basically pointing in two very different reading directions. My goal this year was to read 25 books off of my owned TBR and I made zero progress this month. I may have to reconsider how I structure these in the next few years.
A-to-Z Challenge: I added a letter to this one – U with Unhinged. This leaves F, J, K, O, R, V, X, Y and Z. There are some difficult letters left over, so I will probably start focusing more on this one soon to try and knock some of them out.
Blog Updates
I made 23 posts in the month of August. My new routine continues to work and I think that I’m finally incorporating it back into my regular habits as opposed to something “extra” or “special” that I had to do. Here’s a breakdown:
- Month in Review: 1
- Audio Round Up: 1
- Sunday Posts: 4
- Teaser/Top Ten Tuesday Combos: 3
- Teaser Tuesday: 1
- WWW Wednesday: 4
- Reviews: 7
- Book Blogger Hop: 2
I am especially proud of the fact that I have kept up with reviews, as well as gotten a few reviews missing from last year posted. I’m also really excited to add the Book Blogger Hop as a regular feature going forward. That one has been fun to participate in so far.
Overall, August was a really productive month reading and blogging wise. We’re going into the best time of year (in my opinion) so I’m hoping to keep this energy going into September!

Looks like you had a great reading month! So many of those books look amazing and you’re doing well on your challenges π !
Thanks! I’m doing pretty well with all of them, except Beat the Backlist. I always have problems with that one.
Hmm I get that. I’m having trouble reading books off my own shelves and that’s very similar! Why are the new and shiny ones or temporary library borrows always more appealing? lol π
