WWW Wednesday – August 14, 2024

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

Since last week, I finished listening to City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. I have to say, I have really been enjoying revisiting this series in a new way (audio book vs. print). It’s really been a lot of fun. I also finished The Sleeping Beauty by Mercedes Lackey. In my review yesterday, I mentioned that I had a hard time getting into The Snow Queen, but that wasn’t the case with The Sleeping Beauty. It was a lovely read.

What are you currently reading?

I’m still reading The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst and absolutely loving it. This one will be a month long read since I’m reading along with Ezeekat’s Book Club over on Fable. I also started listening to City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. There are so many things I had forgotten about these books – it’s really been a while since I’ve read them. Also finishing up the Five Hundred Kingdoms series with Beauty and the Werewolf by Mercedes Lackey. Part Beauty and the Beast, part Little Red Riding Hood, sort of part Cinderella, I have already fallen in love with this one.

What do you think you’ll read next?

This is an excellent question, especially since I will be wrapping up not one, but two, series hopefully in the next week or so. I need a new re-read for my audio book and I’m leaning towards Splintered by A.G. Howard. This new take on Alice in Wonderland is one of my all-time favorite series and listening to it would be a lot of fun. Since I will also be crossing off one of my series for the “Complete the Series” challenge with Five Hundred Kingdoms, I need a new series to work on. I think I will be going with The Athena Protocol by Shamim Sarif. I read this back in 2019 for a blog tour, but there has since been a sequel written that I haven’t read. From what I can see, this appears to just be a duology, so that would quickly cross off another series as well.
