July made for slower progress, but progress nonetheless. Let’s see how things went!
July Reads

- The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei
- City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
- Heir by Sabaa Tahir
- City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
- The Snow Queen by Mercedes Lackey
Only five books this time, but part of this month was taken up by either vacation or preparing for vacation. I also got to read a NetGalley ARC for the first time in a while, plus started working on another series for my challenge. I’d say that’s a win!
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal was to read 75 books this year. At the end of July, I am sitting at 43 books. That is either on target or one book behind schedule, but either way, I’m still at a pretty good pace.
Complete the Series: My goal this year was to complete six of the nineteen series that I haven’t completed yet. I did not complete any series in July, but I did get started on another one off this list, so hopefully I will check that one off in August.
Beat the Backlist: My goal this year was to read 25 books off of my owned TBR and, sad to say, I did not make any progress on this goal. I really need to get going on this one, but I also don’t want to get bogged down in another series. That’s really what takes the most time. I think for right now, I’m going to keep focusing on the Complete the Series challenge and see if I can knock that one out before focusing back on this one.
A-to-Z Challenge: No letters added in July. I probably need to put more thought into this one at some point, but I’m not too worried yet. Ask me again in October.
Blog Updates
I think I posted 22 times in July, which I’m very happy with. Even with being gone for more than a week. I finally have found a routine that works for me and it’s a really great feeling. Other highlights were being able to participate in a book blitz again as well as adding Sunday Posts, connecting with folks over at The Caffeinated Reader.

Glad in July I finished a 6th book and made progress on the 7th
Nice! Hope you make progress in August as well!
The Stardust Grail looks so good!! I love that you’re reading the mortal intruments, I started a re-read of the Shadowhunters series this year but have only made it as far as Clockwork Angel so far. I’m glad you got a good rhythm for posting down, I’m still working one mine 🙂
The Stardust Grail was really good. I actually just wrote the review for it, which should be out Thursday? I think it’s Thursday.
I absolutely love all the Shadowhunter books. I want to try and listen to all of them this year, although it’s going to take a while since there are so many and some of them are HUGE!
Oh nice okay, well I’ll try to look out for that then :)! Looking forward to know your thoughts on it.
I love them so much too but I actually haven’t read all of them yet I haven’t touched any of the newer ones (aka the ones I didn’t grow up with) and I really want to catch up!! Listening to them is a great idea, have you liked the narration for them?
So far, they’ve been pretty good, although there have been a lot of narrators for them, which was weird at first. I expected to have the same narrator, if not for all of them, then for at least the Mortal Instruments series by itself. I’ve made a few posts talking about my audio book experiences – here’s the one where I talked about the Mortal Instruments books that I’ve listened to so far: https://lifewithnoplot.com/2024/08/05/audio-roundup-up-to-july-2024/
Oh yeah that is a bit odd, I would expect each trilogy to be consistent with the narrator! Ah great okay I’ll go check out your post!! 🙂
