WWW Wednesday – July 3, 2024

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished both of my reads for last week as my final reads for June. I really liked the audio book for City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. I had mentioned that they changed the narrator from the first book, which was a bit strange, but I really like the new one. I also finished The Grim Conclusion by Adam Gidwitz. These books are just so cute and funny. And gruesome. Just ask Gidwitz, he’ll tell you.

What are you currently reading?

I started listening to the third Mortal Instruments book, City of Glass by Cassandra Clare on Monday. It has the same narrator as City of Ashes is, so I’m not sure why the first book was an outlier. So weird. I’m also reading two books. As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to go back to Fable and get back into the book club I was following there. Their book for July is The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei. I know nothing about this author, but the book sounds really interesting, a sort of sci fi heist story. I also started my NetGalley ARC, Heir by Sabaa Tahir, which I didn’t realize was actually a related series to An Ember in the Ashes. Or at least, it’s set in the same story world. Different characters, though. Now I’m really looking forward to this one! It’s not going to be released until sometime in the fall (October, I think), so you won’t see a review for it for another few months, but I wanted to go ahead and read it now.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Honestly, I’m not sure at this point. The only thing I do know is that I will be listening to the fourth Mortal Instruments book, City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. Other than that, I should probably pick something off of my “Beat the Backlist” challenge, but I’m not sure what yet. Maybe I’ll set up a poll and let you guys decide.

That’s my reading for the week! Please leave your WWW in comments!

I recently started a reread of the Shadowhunters books but I started with Clockwork Angel. I’m glad you’re enjoying the audiobooks for the mortal instruments, I’ve never listened to the audiobooks but perhaps I will when I get to them 🙂 Also, the Stardust Grail sounds SO GOOD!

    • See, that’s what I love about book clubs – I had never heard of The Stardust Grail or Yume Kitasei before, but I’m so glad to have found them. I’m only a few chapters in but it’s really good so far.

The audiobooks for Mortal Instruments have been really fun to listen to. I started with this series but planned to listen to all of the Shadowhunter books, as long as my library has them. I like using audiobooks for rereads just because it’s something I’m already familiar with, so if my mind wanders a bit, it’s okay.

  2. Looks like a good mix of books.

I loved all the books in that Cassandra Clare series.

    Have a great week!

    My post:

    • I read The Last Hours series last year and it was amazing, but it had been a while since I had read the Mortal Instruments. I’m hoping to do a reread through all of them via audiobook. They’re just so much fun and I love the world she created.

      • I read the Mortal Instruments a while back too and love it! I’ve read a spin off Magnus Bane book which was good too. I enjoyed the TV series as well 😂 good luck with rereading them 😊
