Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here are the rules if you want to play along:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s teaser comes from A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz.
Now hold on a minute.
I know what you’re thinking.
I am well aware that nobody wants to hear a story that happens before the main characters show up. Stories like that are boring, because they all end exactly the same way. With the main characters showing up.
But don’t worry. This story is like no story you’ve ever heard.
You see, Hansel and Gretel don’t just show up at the end of this story.
They show up.
And then they get their heads cut off.
It takes a sharp turn at the end there, doesn’t it!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic:
Ten Books on my Summer TBR
There are a few things I’ve already planned to read, but a lot of this is pretty loose. As is the way it usually is around here.
- In a Glass Grimmly by Adam Gidwitz
- The Grimm Conclusion by Adam Gidwitz
This is the next series that I’m working on for my “Complete the Series” challenge. I think it’s usually considered middle grade, sometimes bleeding into YA. My daughter has read these and loved them. I’ve only read the first one.
- City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
- City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
- City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
These will be my next audio books to tackle. It’s one of my favorite series and I haven’t reread it in a few years. Should be fun.
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
- Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler
- The 53rd Parallel by Carl Nordgren
- Alice by J.M. Sullivan
- After the Cure by Deidre Gould
These are all off of my “Beat the Backlist” challenge. There might be some additional books thrown in, depending on if I want to continue with certain series or not, but we’ll have to see how these books go first.
Please leave your teasers and top tens in comments!

I only know the Mortal Instruments ones haha 🙂

One of my favorite series!
I’m such a mood reader that I have a hard time sticking to a TBR! Glad these are all things you were looking forward to reading.

Honestly, I’m the same way. I like the idea of having things planned out that far, but actually following said plan? Totally different story. 🙂
The Parable series was so good. Enjoy!
I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, so I’m looking forward to it.
I binge read the Clare series ten years ago or so when there were fewer of them. I guess I’m only in the middle of it now! LOL I hope you enjoy all your summer reading.
Happy TTT!

There are so many spin off series now that it’s hard to keep up. Felt like going back to the originals this time around.
I love a Cassandra Clare book. I’ve read a couple of her series. My favourite was The Infernal Devises.
I need to start reading some of my TBR shelves! I’m doing 20 Books of Summer to see if I can get through some. It’s not going well so far 😂
Have a great week!

My post:
Infernal Devices was so good! Since I’m going back and listening to audio books for my rereads this year, maybe I’ll listen to that one after I’m done with Mortal Instruments.
It was. I definitely think you should 😂
