WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam at Taking On a World of Words. Three questions, three answers. Let’s go!
What did you recently finish reading?
Since last week, I have made good progress on my Reindeer Readathon books. I don’t know where this extra burst of motivation is coming from, but more of that please! I finished both my current read from last week, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black, as well as my next book after that, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I really enjoyed Coldtown, loved Holly’s take on vampires, but that wasn’t surprising – I’ve always loved her work. Good Omens was a reread for me, but it was (and this may be surprising) the first audiobook I’ve ever listened to. Weird, right? One of the prompts for the readathon was to read an audiobook, and I thought this one would be good since I was already familiar with the story. My main issue with audiobooks was that I was worried that I would have the same issue that I have with podcasts – being able to concentrate without my mind wandering in the middle of following a plot. This one was narrated by Martin Jarvis, who was an absolute delight to listen to.

What are you currently reading?
My next readathon book is one that I’m really excited about, Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. I had saved this on my GoodReads page years ago back when I was writing a lot and, wow, is this book is making me want to start writing again! I’m also reading another audiobook, since I enjoyed listening to Good Omens so much, so I checked out Ready Player One by Ernest Cline from my library. I’m really enjoying this one so far because it is narrated by Wil Wheaton, who is a favorite of mine. I do think, due to my concentration issue, that I will listen to audiobooks ONLY as rereads, not for anything new. It’s been nice listening during my rides to work and off and on in my office.

What do you think you’ll read next?
My next read is a book that I’ve had on my shelf for quite a while now and happens to be very seasonally appropriate – Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. This is a collection of short stories by these authors, all of which I love, centered around a big snowstorm in a small town. They are separate but interconnected stories and should be a nice, cozy read to lead up to Christmas.
