Weekly Wrap-Up – June 17, 2022

Weekly Wrap-Up

Time for an old fashioned weekly wrap-up! I haven’t done one of these in a long time and there are so many things that have been going on over the past few months.

First off, let’s discuss all the weird medical stuff I’ve been dealing with. I think I’ve mentioned here before that I have fibromyalgia and have also been dealing with depression and anxiety for years. Since having Covid back in August, a lot of my symptoms have gotten worse and, now that my health insurance is better, I started going back to my doctor. It hasn’t gone well. Between getting medicines prescribed that don’t work (and some that made everything worse) to prescribing a medication that is apparently very hard to get, I feel like I am not only not getting treated but I’m also not really being listened to when I have concerns. This is frustrating on many levels, especially when I have had a history of doctors either misdiagnosing me or just flat out not believing me when I’ve gone to get help.

On top of this, I’ve been watching my mother, who you all know I am very close to, go through cancer. She’s been very lucky and has had a top notch medical team helping her every step of the way. So far she has had an operation that went incredibly well and she is nearly three quarters of the way through her chemotherapy. Everyone is pretty confident that she will be cancer free once all this is over with, but it has still been hard watching her go through it all. She’s always been the one who takes care of everyone else, so having to sit back and let other people take care of her . . . it hasn’t been easy. Still, we are all very grateful that things have gone as well as they have – and very grateful that it’s almost over.

I’ve been working very hard to get back into reading and blogging again, as you’ve probably noticed. I’m particularly glad for the weekly book memes that I participate in (hoping to add Top Ten Tuesday back into that starting next week). These are quick, relatively easy posts that lets me feel like I am at least blogging SOMETHING even if I’m not doing much else. Plus it helps me feel more connected to the book blogging community, which is something I have always appreciated. I want to find more of these sorts of posts I can participate in. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Lastly, since this post has been very serious and heavy, I will leave you with something more lighthearted. Recently, my daughter and her boyfriend decided to adopt a guinea pig. She’s a cute little thing and they decided to name her Honey. They got her from the local chain pet supply store and have had her for about a month now. Turns out . . . Honey was pregnant. Either the store didn’t realize it or they knew and didn’t bother to tell them. They may not have known. There were many guinea pigs in the cage so who knows what they were getting up to (or how many other pregnant guinea pigs they may have sold).

Anyway, please say hello to Honey and the as-of-yet unnamed offspring.

Honestly, Honey seems just as surprised by this turn of events as we are.

I think that’s it for this week. I’m hoping to get back to posting my Daily Om posts starting on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you then!
