Wake Up, Monday! – 12/7/20

Another Monday, another week up ahead. Three more weeks (give or take) until Christmas. Don’t know for sure if I’m ready for it yet but there’s still time. The main thing I need to do is get my #TBTBSanta gift in the mail, but I should get that done today. Other gifts have been harder to get, partially due to the pandemic and partially because I have no idea what to get people. It’s hard when most of the people in your life are sincere when they say either they don’t want anything or that they just want cash or gift cards. Gift cards are great, but they aren’t all that fun to unwrap Christmas morning!

In any case, we got our decorations up over the weekend. We can’t do much because of the cats but we at least did something to feel more festive.

We’re doing the small tabletop tree again this year and, yes, it is tied down to the table under that tree skirt. The cats have been investigating it, but only one of them has tried to climb it so far. The other just curled up underneath it and took a nap. We’re fine with that.

I’ve always loved decorating the mantle, mostly because I really like our fireplace. This year we are not doing stockings so I decided to decorate with all the Christmas cards I’ve been getting, mostly through the #TBTBSanta card exchange. There are probably more to come, so I left some room.

And that’s pretty much it as far as decorating goes. I have some garlands and a few candles here and there, but not a whole lot. Keeping things simple. Haven’t decided yet if we’re going to put lights up outside or not. I really want to, but it’s also a lot of work. We’ll see what happens.

Heading to work in a few minutes. Hope everyone has a great week!

  1. Well- outside we only one of of our decorations- we use tomato stakes as Christmas trees.

Inside, we have have an empty Christmas tree

    • We’ve done a lot outside in the past with lights and such, but it is a lot of work. I have a string of lights shaped like giant snowflakes and those are pretty easy, so I might just put those up. I haven’t decided yet.

      • My family are adding Stars outside- it started to become a thing in our neighborhood last year. I usually am the one to help with lights.

I love decorating the tree- usually putting ornaments. And love putting presents under the tree.

My family still has nativity sets to put up, Santa Clauses help (they each are designed for a certain country).

Actually there are two other things already up- advent calendar, a peanuts nativity, and the Charlie Brown tree

      • I have a small nativity set up now in another corner of the living room – it’s really the only room we decorate. I love that you have a peanuts nativity and a Charlie Brown tree – classic!

      • My mom loves to collect naivety sets- that is why we have a couple

  2. I’ve got the mantel and shelves decorated, but I haven’t had the gumption to get the tree out yet. It’s been hard to get motivated this year.
